Part-Time IT Helpdesk Technician

We are small and rapidly growing IT services company looking to hire a part-time IT Helpdesk Technician to assist with day-to-day helpdesk and system administration work. This is a great opportunity for an entry-level or junior technician to gain hands-on experience with multiple technologies.

Applicants should have availability mainly during business hours, but occasional off-hours and weekend work may be required. A valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle are required, as there will be local travel to client sites around the Triangle region.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoot issues with laptops, desktops, printers, network equipment, and peripherals
  • Respond to client support requests via phone, email, and ticketing system
  • Take ownership of Level 1 client requests and incidents, and provide technical support to client both onsite and via remote tools
  • Install and configure workstations and laptops, adhering to standard procedures
  • Install software and perform other routine maintenance tasks
  • Monitor and validate automated tasks such as backups, and document/resolve issues
  • Create and update documentation regarding technical and repeatable processes
  • Assist with onboarding new clients, including taking inventory, installing management software, and documentation

 

Required Skills:

  • Microsoft desktop operating systems (Windows 10, Windows 7)
  • Microsoft server operating systems (Windows Server 2008/2012/2016)
  • Microsoft Office products, and Office 365
  • Basic Active Directory administration (users, groups, etc)
  • Familiarity with virtualization concepts
  • Experience with basic networking concepts (DNS, DHCP, WIFI, Switches, Firewalls, etc)
  • Experience with anti-virus/anti-malware tools
  • Experience with Android and IOS-based mobile devices
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to learn new processes quickly
  • Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills

 

Nice-to-Have Skills:

  • Hyper-V or VMware
  • Cloud/IaaS experience with AWS or Azure
  • Cloud storage products (Dropbox, Box, OneDrive, ShareFile, etc)
  • Powershell scripting
  • NAS/SAN storage systems
  • Backup/disaster recovery solutions
  • MacOS
  • Linux
  • Automation tools (Puppet, Chef, Chocolatey, etc)
